More About Me
Started Arthur Murray dance back in the 1990's, finished the bronze syllabus and some silver, moved to Illinois where there was no American style, so studied a little International as I got ready for my wedding. Wife does not share this passion with me after all, so for decades have been out of the dance scene until now that my divorce is almost finished.
Dance to me is is about creativity and freedom of expression, leading, guiding and protecting my partner to let her feel safe and free to shine. A beautiful mingling of masculine and feminine energies. I love watching my partner light up under my lead. I was inspired to dance after watching the movie "Shall We Dance?" (original Japanese version), and have been hooked ever since my first dance lesson.
I'm Looking For
I'm looking around the local dance studios; some have more frequent open dance time (only way to figure out if I've really 'got it' is to try it out, no?) others will let you dance during times the studios aren't crowded. Would be nice to practice again.
At this time in my life I dance for fun, for the challenge of learning something new, for the connection with my partner and with the music. I do not foresee competition in the near future, though with the right partner may be inspired to work on showcases.
At this time in my life, I'm also open to dating my partner, though nothing serious until after my current divorce is finalized. But first, let's dance!
