More About Me
I first started dancing 25 years ago, West Coast Swing, first at the old Metronome Ballroom, at the bottom of Potrero Hill and at the old Avenue Ballroom, on Taraval St. Dancing at the Metronome was easy I live up the hill from it Saturday night was WCS night at the Metronome, I had a lot of fun the first 10-12 years it was open. I try to dance at most of the local Bay Area places that feature WCS dancing, Michelle Kinkaid's, in San Mateo on the second Sunday of the month and Wednesday night dance, there's Two Left Feet, in Danville that I occasionally go to, Mike Pyle's 4th & 5th Sunday dance in Oakland, The Next Generation Swing Dance Club's first Saturday of the month club dance, in Emeryville and I travel the WCS Circuit. A big convention I've been to 4 times is the Dallas Dance Convention and then there's the smaller conventions that are driveable to, Michelle's, Mountain Magic, in Lake Tahoe, Monterey Swingthing, in January, Sacramento's Club convention on Presidents Day weekend , Fresno, in May and the Reno Dance Sensation, in April and of course Next Gen's Columbus Day weekend convention *IS A NEVER MISS* A couple of other conventions I've flown to are Phoenix's 4th of July Convention five or six times- but that convention has lost its' appeal to me, Seattle's Easter Swing Convention and Denver's Swingtime In The Rockies and I made the first Chicago Classic, in 2009. March 2016 I'll be going to the MAD JAM Convention, in Baltimore, for the first time. It's billed as the largest WCS Convention on the East Coast. I'm thinking of competing in the Jack & Jill division. This would be my first time competing. I had a very serious accident 12-7-76, I was hit by a car while running after work, that put me in a coma for 2 months. I'm one of the VERY FEW survivors of an accident like this resulting in a head injury to come out of it with little or no after effects. I had to learn to do EVERYTHING all over again. It was like going through a second childhood again I've been a San Francisco Gardener for 20 years ..... who needs to go to a gym when you work with your body! I'm a young 60. I'm also a public speaker. I've spoken to rose socities in the Bay Area on safety in spraying pesticides and local gardening clubs on gardening skills and cultural practices
