More About Me
Some college ballroom experience in mid 2000s. Some group lessons in 2010, '12, parts of 2018 to Spring 2021 ... but since then in limbo as I can't find a studio that matches my needs.
Because I have strong interest in ballroom/latin music with a catalog of nearly every Casa Musica, Dancelife, Klaus Hallen, Ross Mitchell, etc. album produced until 2010, I'm trying to transfer my passion from this music to devoting more time to dancing itself.
If I find a dedicated partner, I'm fully willing to spend ample time at a local studio that caters to open practice time.
I'm Looking For
I'm looking for a partner with little to moderate Standard/Latin experience (maybe was on college team or has taken several lessons in the past) to practice and at a later point take lessons in NYC (Queens or Nassau preferred, would consider Brooklyn, Manhattan, Suffolk) from an instructor who specializes or is certified in ISTD and/or WDSF. I'm looking to study from the syllabus manuals and videos (I have over 160 DVDs), eventually gaining proficiency in the following dances International dances at least up to a gold level in anywhere from 2-6 of these dances: Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Tango, Waltz, & Foxtrot. I'm willing to learn [1] fun Dancevision video variations (Yulia & Max, Donald & Kasia, Victor & Heather) [2] Geoffrey Hearn's variations (from his 3 textbooks and multiple earlier videos) as well as [3] Alex Moore/Elizabeth Romain book variations to supplement the structured syllabus learning (from ISTD manuals and the new steps in WDSF 3rd edition). There are [4] a couple of YouTube channels that showcase newer variations (for Latin). Also [5], the FRDS from Romania has their own additions to the syllabus in pdf and online video form. I own the complete FRDS manuals in English.
