More About Me
Want to dance... have to dance... need to dance. It makes me feel alive. If you feel the same way, let's talk (and dance :) ) I am strongest in Standard and Smooth, but still enjoy Latin and Rhythm, though I haven't competed in it for a while. Currently in my partnerless state I am taking weekly Hustle classes. It's the first dance I learned many years ago, and the music is just irresistible. If forced to choose only *one* style, it would probably be Standard. I look forward to exploring Novice/Pre-Champ in Standard and Smooth someday, and hope to continue studying Latin and/or Rhythm as time and ambition allow. However, I believe in having a well-developed background in syllabus technique before progressing to Open steps, so I am happy to spend more time in syllabus level Standard/Smooth before making the leap to Open.

I'm Looking For
(*edit August 2020 to acknowledge that dance competitions may not be happening anytime soon, and even dance lessons and practice are far more difficult to manage now...) Someone who wants to dance, has to dance, needs to dance... Desire and willingness to learn are more important to me than experience level, though good floorcraft skills are much appreciated, and admittedly take time to develop. In terms of practice time and coaching, I value quality over quantity, but at this level you must realize that it takes time and commitment to dance well. I am looking for an amateur training/competition partner. I've been away from competitions for a while, so while immediate and frequent competitions are not required, it should be a goal at some point. If you're ambivalent about competing, it shows on the floor. While I acknowledge that having routines becomes more necessary at the higher levels, I feel strongly about lead/follow skills and that "unspoken communication", so good partner connection is very important to keep the performance more genuine. Anyone can go out there and plod through a predetermined sequence of steps. If you know the difference between "dancing steps" and "dancing", contact me. We should be dancing together. Would love to choreograph steps to songs for showcase performances too, should such opportunities arise. Please note that for Standard/Smooth, a partner at least 5'10" is preferable to me; I connect much better. Latin/Rhythm - height not as much of an issue.
