More About Me
i learned a little salsa from a friend in Florida, upon returning to Indiana and in college, i found myself in need of a job and came across an ad for male dance instructors - the ad claimed no experience necessary - just natural ability and comfort instructing/selling lessons.. i had been involved in music all my life, in a music technology program at school and was always involved in stage and theater with music, so i figured i had great natural ability - i was right
i began teaching as i learned, at some times just keeping a few steps past the people i was instructing. I quickly was teaching by myself, taking over couples and students who had been dancing much longer than I, and soon i was teaching newer instructors. Admittedly, my entrance into the world of ballroom is an uncommon story, but an experience ill always be thankful for.
i danced 30-40 hours a week for 2.5 years before school made it impossible to fulfill the requirements of the job (Friday night party lesson/mixers, at least x nights a week, ect)
it broke my heart to leave but it also broke my heart that the studio couldn't keep me on super part time or something, but, such is life...
i love all the dances i learned, would be open to train and compete.
even if someone has no interest in competition or showcases, i might still be interested in training with the right person, just for fun
