More About Me
started With MJ performances when i was in school. - before being encouraged to social dance when i was 22.
Learned modern Jive and competed, moved onto west coast swing and conpeted- ( it's my favourite dance). i taught WCS for a friends business DSD Street Swing for a year. he finished his business, friends move country. I didn't want to travel to continue training, and a ran out of dance partners.
Learned ballroom latin through medals and some privates. From rumba i was able to learn salsa bachata and a little bit of zouk, samba de gafieira, kizomba. did a bit of tango.
I worked with a not for profit organisation called WASDA, teaching Modern Jive for 1 and a half years with experimental concepts that change the way i think about dance and musicality.
currently:
I now wish to find a salsa dance partner and connect young people by performing and teaching people. i want to look cool with a dance partner by mastering moves and make dance accessible for people through good teaching methods. I also have a lot of development and improvement i wish to bring out of myself. i consider myself a fast learner, can adapt quickly and am open minded. i have been told by teachers that i am a natural. to whatever that compliment affords me, i believe it means, i can grasp concepts quickly and improve gradually. I was applauded at my first attempt at polish dancing - I'm often flamboyant passionate, but also reserved, and appreciate positive feedback.. I am generally curious about dance, will try anything, esp if i can access it online for free and get the immediate information i like. i love talking about the differences between style or at least understanding them.
I'm Looking For
i would really like to practice with someone in Salsa, learning the dance through moves, breaking it down from online video's and learning together, likely down the road performing for people to a routine or song of our choice. I consider it a moral obligation to inspire others to dance and having a partner would help me do that best and make me happy. I hope i can do the same
I would like someone who can critique me and be critiqued - puts the dance first and not being fixed on being correct - no one is perfect but i will do the same as my goal is to learn as much as possible, and am open minded to new concepts
