More About Me
I'm passionate about ballroom dancing but only in recent years have I had the opportunity to actually learn any beyond the basics. As far as level is concerned, I rate myself somewhere between half and full bronze, and have begun to learn one or two silver moves in selected dances. I started taking lessons regularly at the beginning of 2018 and typically take two lessons (group) a week, except in summer. My goal is to become proficient (full bronze plus a silver pattern or two for good measure) in 10 or 15 different dances in the ballroom and Latin category. I am not interested in competition but I want to be worth dancing with.
My actual location is about 50 km south of Summerland, or 10 km north of Oliver. The dance parties I go to are in Penticton and Summerland. An upcoming workshop is in Kelowna, about one hour further north, but otherwise I never go that far for lessons or to dance.
I'm open to carpooling if you live south of Summerland.
I'm Looking For
My short-term partner need is for an upcoming three-day workshop in Kelowna, British Columbia in July 2019 (exact dates to be determined). I'm looking for both a short-term and a long-term dance partner. They can be one and the same person or it can be two different people.
My longer-term partner would accompany me to weekend dance parties organized by the teachers, at which we'd both be free to dance with anyone and everyone as well as each other. The reason I'm seeking a partner for these dance parties is that nearly everyone arrives with a partner, typically their significant other, and most nights it is all couples and me. A fair percentage of these couples do not "dance around," and only a few do. Not fun. It's not that I don't have a significant other; she just doesn't dance and has no interest in it. Typically the dance events I go to are on Friday nights and Sunday nights in Penticton, and one Saturday a month in Summerland. The Friday night events are suspended each summer from June to August.
In summary, right now I'm looking for: 1) a partner for the above-mentioned workshop; and 2) an evening dance partner twice a week for the longer term. I am NOT looking for anything more than a steady, compatible dance partner at or near my level or not too far off it in either direction. Even if you're a beginner, if you will be taking lessons on an ongoing basis, I'll still be happy to partner with you.
