More About Me
I first started dance lessons over 5 years ago now, never even expected to enjoy the lessons I took, but just thought I would get dancing, "Under my belt" like any other skill. I was so surprised to find that after a few weeks the lessons were becoming enjoyable and I actually looked forward to them. I've had lessons on and off since then, and I've struggled for a while with having reached some sort of, "Plateau" in my training which I need to break through, and I'm hoping that having a regular partner will help, as I really want to make dancing part of my life as it's such a brilliant thing to do on all sorts of levels. I'm not that interested at the moment in medals and exams, although who knows one day? I love to concentrate on the finer points of technique so that I feel like I'm doing it correctly, but not so much as the fun element is sacrificed. The waltz; it'll always have a special place in my heart as it was the first dance that I felt that I was anywhere near getting an understanding of. I like the quick step too, and the foxtrot (It's so difficult though!) I love the latin dances too, rumba especially. I think my real love though is the Argentine Tango, although it's a difficult relationship as it's so deep and emotional. I haven't danced at all for a year as I felt I needed a break, but I really want to get going again. My standard I find difficult to estimate, I'm not a beginner but not very experienced either. One thing I like about dancing is how different it is with each different person one dances with. I like to dance with beginners as I learn a lot about leading, and I hope I never turn into the sort of, "So and so's a beginner, I'm not dancing with them" type snob.
